 Taxes and Money

Yep I’ve waited to the last minute to pay my taxes again and I’ll be busy this weekend filling out tax forms. YUCK! What’s patriotic about paying taxes anyway?

Charged with one count of child endangering

I used to drive a school bus I’m working as a bus monitor/aide these days because I can’t drive commercially due to medications I take. I always hoped I would be able to go back to driving a school bus and I still have my CDL’s. But in this new age of sue everybody America you couldn’t pay me enough to drive a school bus. If I could drive for a living I think I’d rather drive dump trucks or be an over the road truck driver.

A good friend of my sisters and an acquaintance of mine, Mel was a bus monitor/aide she did the same job as I do just at a different school. The bus driver and Mel the monitor/aide left a 3-year-old girl on the bus. The two news stories are about what is going on about this situation. While reading please try thinking about how you would feel if this were your child. Also try thinking about how you would feel if you were the driver or monitor/aide.

Special Needs, Preschool Student Left On Bus For More Than Three Hours
Last Update: Mar 23, 2007 1:20 PM
Special needs, preschool student is left behind on the school bus.
The driver and a bus monitor/aide are now on paid leave.
The three-year-old girl was left on the bus at Morrow Elementary in Warren County as her classmates were dropped off Thursday morning.
Police say the driver and the monitor/aide didn't notice she was still strapped into her car seat.
The girl has a speech impediment, but no physical disabilities.
Officials with the Little Miami School District said the driver and a monitor/aide, who have not been identified, might not have followed proper procedures, which should have revealed that the special-needs child remained on the bus.
“From my understanding, they did not follow (the) district's procedure of doing a full check of the bus after they were through with the bus route,” said district spokeswoman Lisa Knodel.
Police said the girl was left in her car seat on the four-row bus, and school officials said they would toughen the safety procedure.
“We've installed a security system on our buses, (and) the system activates once a student boards the bus and doesn't deactivate until the bus driver walks to the back of the bus and pushes a button,” Knodel said. Monitor/Aides must also fill out a checklist when children exit the bus, she said. The driver and monitor/aide could face charges, police said.
News XX learned that the driver’s contract had not been renewed when she worked for Kings School District because of another, unspecified incident.

MORROW, Ohio
Last Update: April 6 2007 5:00 PM
A Little Miami Bus driver and a monitor/ aide are facing criminal charges after a preschool student was left on a bus.
The three-year-old girl's parents contacted Morrow police last month after their daughter was left strapped in her car seat for more than three hours before being found.
The child wasn't hurt, but the bus driver, Debra XXXXX and the aide, Mel XXXXXXX are both charged with one count of child endangering

How do you think you would feel if this happened to your child?
How do you think you would feel if you were the driver or the monitor/aide?

The driver and monitor/aide were made to resign or they would have been fired. People who do these jobs do them because they care about children. If you have ever driven a school bus you would know how stressful driving other people’s children can be. You have to watch for other drivers, bad road conditions all while watching the children on your bus.

Children falling asleep and getting left on buses goes on every school year, it has been going on for years and drivers were never fried. I am not going to say they didn’t do wrong, clearly the driver and monitor/aide did not do their jobs. I know Mel feels horrible about leaving this little girl on the bus, I can also say Mel was never trained and knew nothing about checking the bus after each route, but the driver did.

I feel they should have been fired, but having your name and picture plastered on the news and charged with child endangering is just too much. People are human and humans make mistakes! American is this really about protecting our children? What do you think?

Saturday night blog crawl song Shinedown’s 45

Description for Shinedown’s song 45 is from The Real DJ Strobe. He posted 45 and I believe he captures the song perfectly. With this I reveal to you life is a 45 and if you mistreat either one it can destroy you. So live and learn open your eyes to what blinds you remember it so that you recognize it and never let yourself cross the line of time. What I mean the piece of the puzzle is inside you and we each hold one, we came in this together and so shall we leave when our time is obsolete. shinedown - 45

 Just not today?

Well over the weekend my dear family has started saying I spend way too much time on the computer. My computer is old and slow and I’m older and slow too, we are a good match.

Then I was bloggen early this morning and my father called my cell phone, cause I took the call manager off my home phone line yes I still have dial up slower yet. My Dad is telling me you need to get off the computer, I said why you know my cell number and if you want to talk you can call it. Mind you this was 6 am, he wants me to go lose money with him on the boat in Indiana. Then he starts in on what do you do all the time when you’re on the computer. So I try and explain Blogstream to him.

Now I’m multi tasking waiting for my slow computer to get to blog pages, I‘m folding laundry I always get stuck with it. I also need to sweep the floors and clean the cat box, some more chores that no one else will do. I'm also doing the dishes I deserve them, we ate out so there aren’t many anyhow.
I need to run the sweeper I don’t deserve that one that’s my husband’s household chore. But when he forgets guess who gets to do it.

Hopefully I can get most of this done and take a shower before going to my mid day bus route. And when I get all caught up with these chores, then I can pay the bills and balance the checkbook before I go back out for my afternoon bus route. After work I can pick up some food to make for dinner and of course I’ll have to cook it. Oh and did I mention I still have taxes to finish for the whole family. That’s 3 federal taxes, 3 state taxes and 4 of the nice new school tax we all get to pay, let’s see that’s 10 tax forms all together. Nothing better then waiting to the last minute. Well I'll try to get them done sometime this week. It’s so wonderful being the wife and mother at times, just not today.

Well I wrote that on Monday and today is Thursday, I got most of it done sort of. I didn’t post it what can I say no excuse. I didn’t get a shower before work I didn’t smell too bad. I’m kidding I had one the night before. I did clean the house and fold all the laundry. I even swept the floors and paid the bills only the ones I had to so they wouldn’t be late. I can’t remember what we had for dinner oh yea fast food what can I say I tried.

So tomorrow starts spring break and I have a little catching up to do, but not to worry it will all get done in the end and on time too. But to night I’m checking out a few songs for this Saturday night’s blog crawl and cursing the stream.

I should really explain a little before you think I am lazy or maybe just touched in the head. The weather has turned cold and gone from 75 degrees to 28 degrees and when the temperature drops my pain level goes up, what can I say my muscles don't like the cold, so I have been taking it a little easy the last two days.
